When I decided to do the Green UP challenge I knew that I had to get the whole family on board. My husband loves the idea of zero waste living but was completely honest when he told me that I would have to do the majority of the organization because he was too busy with work.  I dove  right in and brought him and my two daughters along for the ride but when I saw his face washing a  diaper in the toilet for the first time I knew that I needed something special for him. I contacted Cheeky Monkey Baby Company to  sample their Manly Monkey  Gift Pack.

Manly Monkey Gift Pack : Cheeky Monkey Baby Co.

The name of the company Cheeky Monkey Baby Co. does not describe what the Manly Monkey Gift pack contains. It is truly a rustic collection perfect for the rugged outdoors man in your life.  You know, the one that likes to grow a beard, chop firewood and   climb mountains.  Seriously though, the natural smell of the soaps gives you the essence of the outdoors.  My husband who is an outdoor addict loved that the soaps embodied HIS personality.

Whats Included

Included in the gift pack is the Dirt & Whiskey Shave Soap, the White Fir and Mint Shower Bar,  the Tea Tree Natural Deodorant,  a Charcoal Mint Soap-on-a-rope and their Split Personality Face Bar made specially through a local collaboration with FOX & HVRE.

Local and Handmade

The Cheeky Monkey Baby Co. all natural products are handmade in Calgary, Alberta by Rebecca Taylor. Rebecca recently founded the company in last year after her son was born when she started to look closer into the harsh chemicals that typical soap companies use in their products. After talking with her back and forth about the products it is clear that she is very passionate about the products she is making.

 Preservative Free

Cheeky Monkey Baby Co.’s soaps  are made in small batches  and are free of preservatives.  This means that there are no harsh chemicals on your skin or harsh chemicals being put into the environment.

Rugged

Take me back to the woods with the rugged look of these soaps.  Ok, so I know I said that the products were for my husband but most of them can be used for women and men. My favourite product is the charcoal mint soap on a rope while my  husband has been enjoying the  Dirt and Whiskey Shave Soap to tame his wild beard.

Eco-Conscious

Each product is made with the earth in mind. The soaps are made preservative free with ingredients that are sustainable and local whenever possible.  The packaging is also minimal and all recyclable.

Note: While the plastic cover around the Manly Monkey Package is recyclable it would be nice to see the products being encased in a reusable cloth bag.  Recyclable is great but reusable is even better!

Expiry Date

Since they have no preservatives each soap comes with an expiry date on them.

Recycling

The products were all wrapped together in a plastic that is recyclable in Calgary.  Just make sure you bundle up all your plastic bags together before putting them in the Blue Bin. If you are not local to Calgary then make sure to check out your recycling program.

DEODORANT

The deodorant was sticky the first few times that it was used. After my husband used it two times  it started to roll on smooth.
