Camping season is here and I am so excited.  It means that Dusty our VW Van is out of hibernation and ready to explore. But…. What I also love more than camping is that I get to celebrate my two little girls’ birthday in the Spring and Summer.  My youngest turned 2 in May and my oldest will turn 4 in August just before we hit the road for an epic 2-3 week camping trip.  Of course our location is still to be determined since we cannot make up our minds of where to go. To celebrate our little campers and their birthdays, I wanted to share with you 5 summer camping gifts for children that I have been loving. Oh… and of course you will get a chance to win these products. Two lucky winners will win over $300 worth of prizes EACH!!! If your looking for other gift ideas then make sure to check out these gift guides listed below.

Summer Camping Gifts for Young Kids +Giveaway

(Open to CAN/US : July 5th-17th)

*I was given product/compensation to facilitate this post. All of these companies and people were sought out by me because I love what they stand for and their products. All views are 100% my own.

I first heard about Woolino in a facebook group. A mom had mentioned that she liked using the merino wool Woolino sleep sacs for her toddler while camping .  Of course I got curious and did a bunch of research on the company. After finding out that  they are 100% organic Merino wool and ethically made,  I knew I wanted to try out the product for sleeps in the VW Van and at home. I will be running an official review in the fall but let’s just say that I wish I had invested in this sleep sac right after I had my first daughter.

The Gift of Sleep

Give your little one a 100% organic Merino wool sleep bag  or the 100% Organic Cotton Sleep bag. This sleep bag will work great for sleeps at home and with some extra layers be the perfect sleep bag for your baby or toddler while camping. Merino wool is incredibly soft and medical studies have shown that babies settle more quickly, cry less, sleep longer, feed better and gain weight faster.  It also regulates temperature so that if you are hot it helps cool you down and if you’re cold it warms you up.  The Woolino sleep bag just might be more for the parents than for the child!

Onya Baby creates high quality baby carriers that specifically meet the needs of outdoor active families. I have tried many different carriers and the Onya Baby Pure and the Onya Baby  Outback are now our go to carriers for when we want to go on a short hike or adventure. They have a well thought out design, are comfortable and they were the first soft baby carrier to become part of the Outdoor Alliance.

Gift your Little one a Sweet Ride

Gift the Onya Pure  this summer with the booster storage pack which will be perfect for those hikes while camping. Now sold at   MEC, the pure is Onya’s lightest carrier and was designed in collaboration with Hike it Baby founder Shanti Hodges. The idea behind The Pure is that it is lightweight, compact and breathable for those hot summer months. The higher back makes it more comfortable for wearing older toddlers and the functional design allows your newly hiking toddler to go in and out of carrier with ease.

Lucy Tries Sports

Lucy Tries Sports is a series created by Canadian Sports Broadcaster Lisa Bowes. The series was actually introduced to me when my brother gifted my oldest daughter the book Lucy Tries Soccer. She instantly loved the story of Lucy playing her first soccer game and we valued the positive message behind the books: Playing hard, being a good sport and having fun while being active. Since then my youngest was gifted Lucy Tries Luge which is another great book that introduces a less known sport.

Active Stories

Give the complete Lucy Tries Sports series which includes Lucy Tries Soccer, Lucy Tries Luge, Lucy Tries Short Track  and coming out in September 2018, Lucy Tries Hockey.  These books are perfect for bedtime stories while camping.  And… Just because Lucy is a girl does not mean that the books are not meant for boys. Lisa says that “Lucy Tries Sports series is for ALL children. Lucy is definitely  unique  because it’s rare to see a girl as the main character in the “sports space”/children’s lit. She is certainly an empowering figure for girls …but also boys. Children do not see “gender” like adults do…to them – Lucy is just a cool kid and they relate to her on many levels.”

Right after I had my first daughter, my best friend and maid of honour at my wedding gave me these ultra-cute, local mountain designed pants from Wylo and Co. I loved them so much that I made my little gal wear them every time we adventured in the mountains. Fast forward 3 years and after moving cities I happened to become really good friends with one of the co-founders of the locally made, organic clothing line. Now… our creative ventures line up for some pretty awesome collaborations!

Stylish Adventure Wear

Give the gift of some cute  printed organic leggings or their bamboo soft harlem pants. What I love even more about the styles is that the clothing is hand made in Calgary, Alberta by two hardworking rad mamas. Currently working out of their homes you can purchase their clothing online, at local pop ups or select retailers across Canada and the USA. With their stylish outdoor patterns your little one can have mini adventures every day!

Ollie and Stella Outfitters came across my radar a couple of months ago. They are the U.S. retailer for Ducksday products, a company based out of Belgium. The high quality, well designed Ducksday rain gear really stood out and I knew that I wanted to learn more about the hype surrounding their products. The hype is justified and their gear is not only durable and tough but the design features really stand out from other brands. Just read my review here.

Gear that Rocks

Gift your little one a durable Ducksday rainsuit from Ollie and Stella Outfitters. These popular Belgium rains suits are 100% waterproof and built to last. They have waterproof zippers and pockets for your little ones treasures. The  adjustable hoods and arms help you get the fit just right. My favourite feature is the pocket hidden in the pant leg used to stuff the whole suit into for easy storage while camping and hiking. Now all you need is some big puddles for your little one to jump into and their birthday will be complete.
