It is almost impossible to describe in words how I felt after the Mama’s Movement. The event took place on May 27th at the Bolder Climbing gym in Calgary, Alberta. I could hardly fall asleep that evening as I thought about all the incredible women that came out. I was inspired by each woman’s ability to put themselves out there and try something new. The thoughtful discussion that occurred was uplifting and the mindful session gave me time to reflect on myself. Trust me that was needed.
Mama’s Movement Event
In all, I think the whole event run by Born to be Adventurous and Wholistic Health YYC has kind of blown my mind. The 50 tickets for the event were sold out a couple weeks before the event. It is hard as a mom to get time away and I was honoured that those women chose our event for their kid free time. I am so thankful that I have professional photos to look back on from Shirley Lynne who does Day in the Life of Mom photography. If your thinking about getting photos done she is seriously worth considering.
Kombucha Bar, Nourishing Food and Climbing
Women started showing up at 6:15pm and the Kombucha bar from True Buch was the first order of business with flavours like Cinnamon Kiss, Root Beer and Mojito. Next up were welcomes and a few climbing tips from Zak at Bolder Climbing Gym. Soon after receiving the tips we broke off into groups and started climbing. Women did not have to stay in their groups and after comfort set in women were finding their routes.
By the end of the climbing session I am pretty sure everyones arms were so pumped out we did not even know if we could hold a glass of Kombucha. But… the body is amazing and after heading up into the loft at Bolder we were soon talking about our epic climbing experience over Organic food from Spud Organic and the delicious Choco Broth from High Vibe Health. I think it is pretty safe to say that the Beet Cashew dip, Cauliflower Cheese Bites and Choco Borth were a few favourites.
Uplifting Interactive Mindful Living Session
At 8:45 pm each women had their swag bag with goodies from our sponsors . The epic swag bag included some ultra comfortable and warm snowboard socks from Burton Riglet and all-natural hand cream from Rocky Mountain Soap Company. The hand cream from Rocky Mountain Soap Company was essential for the mindful living session led by local registered psychologist and yoga teacher Sally from Wholistic Health YYC. Let’s be honest. Sally was amazing and engaged the group through an interactive mindful living session and meditation. During the meditation, Sally led us all through a calming hand massage with the cream from Rocky Mountain Soap company. And guess what?! I used the calming hand massage this past week when my kids were whining. It totally helped me keep my cool.
We ended the session with a few mindful eating tips and full bellies and hearts. At 9:30 pm the event finished and I was in awe that a short 3 hour mini retreat could be so uplifting and powerful. I met such incredible women. I am incredibly thankful for the volunteers that helped out. I am also so so so thankful for all the sponsors including BioLite, Gogo Bags, Lace Brick Design, Bolder Climbing Gym, Burton Riglet, Spud Organic Foods , Rocky Mountain Soap Company and High Vibe Health.
